Address Point Aggregation
The Address Point Aggregation Project is to develop and implement a workflow and technical solution for gathering address point data from the seven metro counties, aggregating the data into one file and distributing the points, metadata and other supplementary information to the user community.
Project Goals
- Project to deploy a single technology to gather data from individual counties;
- Architect a workflow and choose a technology that can be used by all counties within the state of Minnesota;
- Implement a fully automated system;
- Document decisions and relevant project information that are used to define the project and can be used by non project participants;
- Document metadata;
- Document instructions for the counties of Greater Minnesota as their information becomes available;
- Address Aggregation Workgroup be available to assist other counties become part of the aggregation workflow
Data Specifications
Development history in brief. MetroGIS stakeholders began development of an Address Point Specification in 2004. The NextGen911 community began development of a specification to meet their needs in 2015. The Metro Address Work Group and 911 stakeholders convened on August 31, 2016 to modify the metro specification to more closely align with the needs of the 911 stakeholder community. This merged Metro/NextGen9-1-1 standard was advanced as a candidate for a statewide address point standard during 2017. After thorough public review and approval by the Standards Committee, the Geospatial Advisory Council approved the Statewide Address Point Standard on December 6, 2017 (link below).

Data Aggregation Plan
During 2018, the metro partners will be working toward the aggregation and publication of a regional address point dataset in the adopted state standard.
On June 30, 2015, representatives from Carver County, Dakota County, MN.IT Services, MnGeo, MnDNR and the Metropolitan Council convened to begin a formal aggregation plan process. Address point data from Carver and Dakota Counties will be the 'test data' for this initial pilot project.
